Okay, I’ve sat on this news for a moment now (teehee)! I’ve been nominated as a finalist for the YWCA Knoxville & the Tennessee Valley's 39th Annual Tribute to Women Awards! Eee!

This award was created to spotlight the hard work, creativity, passion, and unwavering commitments women make in this world. And, it’s a delight to be seen by other women in our city.

Fingers crossed I win a little something-something. Or better yet, they have an amazing DJ, and I dance the night away.

Message from First Take Co.

“Hey y'all - it's EG, Spacecraft's resident theatre kid and founder of First Take Co. Reporting for duty as a member of the co-op constellation 🫡

First Take is all about providing multi-hyphenate performance artists the chance to explore their craft at a professional level. We're using Spacecraft as our new work development hub - writing original shows, workshopping early ideas, and generally pushing boundaries. We hope to see ya around!

Our next Spacecraft show is September 16 - a musical / storytelling / Appalachian exploration of imagination. Stay tuned for more info next week, but we hope to see you there!”

🖼️ Throwbacks ↓

In 2022, I met two incredible artists named Kelsi and Ethan Graham. We would meet up a local coffee shop every week to scheme and dream. We’d go on long thought streams about the future of art in Knoxville and the conditions needed for us all to thrive. It was a delightful year of consistent manifestation. One of the biggest milestones we threw into the ether was to participate at the Knoxville Entrepreneur Center’s What’s the Big Idea? pitch competition.

As we waltzed into 2023, the opportunity presented itself to sign up. Without hesitation, I applied to pitch SpaceCraft. I recruited the help of all my friends to craft the perfect application that would knock folks socks off…and it worked! We made it pass the first round of applications.

Now, there was a TON of oooey gooey awkardness and storytelling that took place between the first round of applications and the one-minute virtual pitch. But, I think that’s best for you to explore on our instagram highlights (lmao)!

Once we made it past round two, we were assigned a wicked smart team of creatives, business owners, and architects to help craft this pitch for the main stage. In 48 hours, we crafted a pitch and business plan to blow any judge away.

Now, as you know, we didn’t win the $10K. However, I walked away with an incredible team that supports me TO THIS DAY! To be celebrated and supported by folks who see themselves in SpaceCraft’s universe is the greatest privilege.

Since March 2023, SpaceCraft has exceeded all odds and has brought the space to reality! It’s wild what a little dreaming and scheming will do.
