Can you believe we’re already nearing September? Time flies when you’re crafting systems and communities of resilience.

This weekend, I have the honor of being a scholarship recipient of the Waymakers Collective 3rd Annual Gathering. This is a week long gathering where creatives, artivists, and doers come together to discuss and build a more just and equitable Appalachian future. It’s a delight to share the weekend with so many brilliant and creative activists who believe in curating a future in Appalachia.

As artists, we believe and perpetuate the fairytale that great artists are solely house in big cities. The reality is culture is being siphoned from the South to fuel many of these cultural hubs we all admire. I’ve witnessed many artists get their bearings in the South before hitching a one-way roadtrip to a new life, without leaving a treasure behind that leaves their communities better.

SpaceCraft is my treasure. It’s my way of funneling all the knowledge and inspiration I’ve gained from traveling into a long-lasting, multi-generational sanctuary for artists. And. it’s an honor to have you all alongside me.

🖼️ Throwbacks ↓

Many of you know me as the woman, who dreamt of SpaceCraft. Others as the out-of-the-box belly dancer. But, very few know me as an illustrator.

Before discovering my love for dance, I dabbled in nearly every art medium I could lay my hands on. One of the most exciting was illustration. During this tumultuous time, I created an OC named NuBorn. She’s an express plant, who embodies joy, curiosity, and movement. She was a vehicle for me to process the world. And, that’s all I have to share about her.

She was a short lived project that brought much ease to my life and is a constant testament to allow art + creativity to flow through you. Who knows, it might be what sets you up for your purpose?

SpaceCraft is open to all mediums, no matter if you craft, make, design, tinker, or shake! Our intention is to become a beacon for all artists seeking a space to make art uninhibited.
