Hi Friend 👋🏾

Welcome to another week of me chirping about all things SpaceCraft. I am in awe by the out pour of local support.

If you believe in our mission, stay hello in the comments. I deeply value building a connection with you and am eager to learn about your dreams for building a more vibrant arts scene.

OUR DANCE FLOOR IS INSTALLED! This is a huge milestone for SpaceCraft. A dream of mine is to create a safe space for Queer and BIPOC folx to dance, and a dance floor is a necessary step to bringing this dream to fruition.

Special shoutout to board members, Taryn Ferro and Steph Wadman, for working tirelessly at SpaceCraft all day Wednesday to knock it out AND curate the space for an upcoming event. They are true pillars to SpaceCraft’s success!

This is the first of many renovations we’re working on at SpaceCraft. If you’re able, please donate below to help further our mission to create space for artists to craft. We are a small coalition building slowly with whatever income comes our way. Any support is delightful!

P.S. - Stay tuned for deets on a sexy end of year party 😉

IMPORTANT The Southeast was deeply impacted by the category four Hurricane Helene. At SpaceCraft, we deeply believe in community care and are inspired by the mutual aid our neighbors. During October, the SpaceCraft Cooperative is offering programming where 100% of the funds are donated to the Appalachian Helene Response Fund. Please consider donating to the fund directly or being in community with us. It’s deeply important we continue efforts to support family, friends, and neighbors in need.

NEW We have a new programming series entering our orbit this month! First Take Co & Manatee Vanity Improv are teaming up to offer improv classes. This is an excellent opportunity for you to get silly while building your capacity for wonder. This is a level one class designed for beginners. Check out the link below to register for classes!

Maker City Summit Panel Discussion

Y’all. Last weekend was one for the books! In summary, I lived out my big city girl fantasies. Here are the highlights:

Friday - I danced for two and half hours at a local alt-techno DJ set. I wore my rave horns and boogied like I was in Berlin. It was so much fun to dance with other rave kidults, who simply want to enjoy great music. Age is definitely catching up to me because I nearly threw out my lower back lmao! Helpful tip for anyone over 25…have a mini stretch before going out.

Saturday - At the crack of dawn, I hit the road to Nashville. A dear friend of mine got free tickets to the Pilgrimage Festival, where headliners include Hozier, Noah Kahan, and the Dave Matthews Band. I was only able to go for a single night, so I drove for three hours in the rain to experience the lovely Hozier live. It was magical! I connected with so many music enthusiasts and was introduced to the incredible truth speaker, Allison Russell. A peak moment was during Hozier’s set where he belted my favorite song, Movement. Hands down the greatest love song of all time (you’re welcome 👇🏾).

Sunday - As you can imagine, I arrived back to Knoxville just in time for the Maker City Summit rehearsal. This is an annual gathering for Artists and Makers to mingle and learn new tools to grow their businesses. I was invited to speak on TWO different breakout sessions. The first being a panel about social media, and the other is a presentation about makerspace. The panel was fun because I was the Steve Lacy of the group (diy and low-budget lol). The other panelists and I shared friendly banter and was able to bring ideas on how to infuse humanity into social media marketing. The makerspace presentation was interactive and information. It was wonderful to share knowledge on the scale and deep impact art has on our local economy (which is worth $62M btw).

Stay tuned for a recap about this upcoming weekend because I have another adventure in store for you! Chat soon, loves.
